I’m someone who is so inspired and strengthened by the faith and work of Oswald Chambers, that the updated version of his devotional ” MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST’ is kept on my bedside table for my morning read in the last few years.

Taken up by his words and his unwavering devotion to God, I purchased the huge volume of The complete Works of Oswald Chambers. Though I hadn’t read through all the pages of the book as it was too heavy to carry around to sit and read, I had read some selected passages of his work so far.

Though this saint of God is no more with us, but his voice speaking through his writings definitely ignite the fire to burn brightly for God. Unlike the voices that echoes in the Christian messages to boost up our self-images, wealth and ego, Chambers points our focus on God as well as to the state of our hearts.

I’ve posted below what I’ve gleaned from one of the pages of his book. The truth and beauty of the words touched me so deeply that I thought of sharing them with you all so that you too could look up and get to see God as He is and be honored and adored for who He is as Chambers did.

Earth’s crammed with heaven
And every common bush afire with God
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round it and pluck blackberriess.
And daub their natural faces unaware
More and more from the first similitude!

       Love Abiding
…We abide
Not on this earth, but for a little space
We pass upon it; and while so we pass,
God through the dark hath set the Light of Life
